Really cool, really well made things for you and your pup!

Hit the Beach NOW with your Pup

Knock on wood, but we escaped the New England winter relatively unscathed here on Cape Cod. Apart from a couple of quick storms that blew through, we’ve enjoyed some unusually spring-like temps. That’s been pretty awesome because one of our favorite things about a Cape Cod winter is the opportunity to roam the beaches with our pups.  Sadly, most beaches are “dogs NOT allowed” during the summer months, so it’s wonderful to see them romp in the sand (and waves!) while we can!

If you haven’t given your pup a good dose of the beach experience yet, get out now!  You’ve got anywhere from a few days to 6 weeks to enjoy the coastline before they go dog-unfriendly. Here’s a look at some deadlines for getting out there with your pup!

Dennis Beaches (including Corporation, Mayflower and Cold Storage) – Friday prior to Memorial Day (May 26, 2017)
Nauset Beach, Orleans - March 30.  Caveat - dogs ARE allowed on the Outer Beach, South of Trail #1 to the Chatham Inlet, but you need an ORV permit and it’s not cheap.
Skaket Beach, Orleans – March 30
Rock Harbor, Orleans – Friday before Memorial Day (but as we’ve told you before, we tend to cheat here, especially during low tide)

Brewster Beaches – April 30
Falmouth Beaches (Old Silver, Menauhant, Falmouth Heights, Chapoquoit, etc.) – April 30
Seagull and Greys Beach, Yarmouth – March 31
All other Yarmouth Beaches – May 14

Craigville Beach, Centerville (and all of the Barnstable beaches except part of Sandy Neck) – May 14
Sandy Neck – Dogs are allowed year-round on the ORV beach, but you need an ORV permit. The one area they are not allowed is Bodfish Beach (the public beach located in front of the parking lot that is designated by “Lifeguard on Duty” signs).  They’re also allowed on the Great Marsh Hiking Trail, which starts next to the Gatehouse. From there you can hike to the ORV beach!

Chatham Beaches  - April 30.  Except Jackknife Beach (Pleasant Bay) where dogs are allowed yearly before 9 AM and after 6 PM.
Harwich Beaches – May 28
Sandwich Beaches – May 14

Eastham Town Beaches (not including National Seashore Beaches) – June 14
Provincetown Beaches - Until the day before Memorial Day, dogs are allowed off-leash if they're under voice and sight control. From Memorial Day through November 1, they can be off-leash between 6 am and 9 am, and 6 pm and 9 pm.

Looking for more “dogs allowed” ALL YEAR LONG spots? Check out this blog post we shared earlier.  And if your pup needs a rinsing after all that sand, pop into the Dog Wash for a self-serve tub wash!
